e2e class

Tech Ranch is now enrolling students for the next sessions of "Employee to Entrepreneur".  This 8 week mentorship program focused on accelerating ideas from your brain to the marketplace.

The program (Limited to 10 students) formally meets once per week for 2 hours, and students frequently work on their ventures at the Tech Ranch incubator during their term - collaborating with coaches, fellow students and other companies at The Ranch.

A brief synopsis of the formal sessions:

Class 1: The Hero’s Journey
Entrepreneur- know thyself, and through knowing yourself, you'll build a stronger business

Class 2: Ideas and Business Models
Evaluating ideas, and building the business model that supports it

Class 3: Building the Team
Make sure that the right people are on the bus in the right position

Class 4: Getting Things Done
Planning is great; Execution, though, is what counts

Class 5: Building the Pitch
How to position your company in an elevator and with investors

Class 6: Down and Dirty Marketing
Prove that there is a market for your product before you build it.

Class 7: Selling the Wheel
Picking the right methodology for selling your product, and landing the first customer

Class 8: Pre-flight Checklist, Launch or Scrub Party
Time to launch your business and present your ideas to potential investors and customers

Our current crop of budding entrepreneurs joined our program with much trepidation:

  • Is Entrepreneurship right for me?
  • Can I survive without a corporate paycheck?
  • Is my idea any good?
  • Will my spouse support and understand my decision?

Already, those same students are sharing great ideas, discussing personal challenges and collaborating to ensure success for everyone. Regardless of background, experience and education, these students are learning, interacting and developing ideas to overcome current and future obstacles to realize their dreams of entrepreneurship.

In Class 1, students learned the basics of entrepreneurship, gauged their hidden talents, and assessed their top strengths. In addition,
they assessed their goals and and compared and contrasted concepts and ideas with the class. Overall, it was about learning about the person and why he or she is considering this path.

Students spent Class 2 learning about team dynamics and personality and character conflicts. The key concept was to understand that you do not know everything. A team is necessary because everyone on it has a talent or specialization. As each student expressed his or her idea, other students provided feedback and suggestions.

Outside of class, the entrepreneurs are busy working on their ideas and presentations.  They are meeting in small teams, and beginning to partner up on some of the most promising ideas.
